Fog Cannon Simulator
A 3D simulator that models security-fog dispersion room by room, validated against real-world conditions for a European manufacturer.
The problem
Security fog cannons are sold with a nominal coverage rating in cubic metres. But a real room is never an empty cube: mezzanines, shelving, partial partitions, furniture. In the field, installers sized installations by eye — sometimes over-ordering for safety, sometimes leaving blind zones.
How we approached it
We built, for a European manufacturer, a 3D simulator that computes fog dispersion across a given floor plan. The operator imports the plan, places obstacles and cannons, and sees coverage room by room together with the time required to reach the required obscuration density. The model was calibrated on real-room tests, comparing simulation against physical deployment. Result: on sensitive projects — jewellers, museums, warehouses — machine count and placement are now justified by computation, no longer by approximation.
